The International Control Room is our facility responsible for all ad-hoc terrestrial and satellite communications. Six backhaul channels from London form the backbone of our contribution connectivity however various other platforms such as video over ATM, satellite news gathering, microwave, store & forward and video streaming technologies are also used.
The six backhaul channels which originate at the BT Tower in London are delivered via C-band capacity and are digitally compressed and encrypted providing a robust and reliable delivery mechanism.
Although the bulk of the traffic on these lines is sport related, we also render services to other key internal and external clients. Our professional dedicated staff currently manage approximately 720 feeds per month and provide around the clock co-ordination.
Services offered by ICR include:
* Ad-hoc contribution of feeds from BT Tower, London to M-Net
* Managed contribution of ad-hoc feeds downlinked from various other satellites
* Playout from BetacamSP, DVCam and our ISIS server
* Fibre connectivity to local teleports for both contribution and distribution
