Victor Collins, a singer with a tumultuous past, ends his singing career after ten years because he feels exploited by his money-grabbing agents and managers. However, he moves back temporarily into the spotlight to perform at a charity concert to raise money for a cash-strapped school. He is welcomed back warmly, but at the end of the show he collapses and is rushed to hospital where he is diagnosed as suffering from an unknown heart condition. A new heart has to be found urgently.
That same day, Pieter de Bruin, estranged from his wife Joyce, falls to his death while hiking on a Cape mountain. Joyce agrees to donate her husband’s healthy heart to Victor and the transplant is performed successfully. With the new heart, Victor also gains some wisdom: he realises that in order to live a happy and fulfilled life, he must let go of his hectic past.
